The HMC150 records a maximum file size of 4Gb per clip, which is around 23 minutes, depending on the chosen recording level. The camera does not stop once it has hit the 4Gb file size limit. It simply starts a new file, which is seamless. It is referred to as Spanned Clips.
The potential problem comes about in the way various NLEs see the Spanned Clips. Some NLEs will miss 2-8 frames when going from the first clip to the second clip. The frames are there on the raw footage, it's just that the NLE cannot see it. Until your NLE of choice solves this, there are two easy solutions.
If you are proficient in DOS, follow these steps.
1. Press WIN+R
2. Type cmd and press Enter
3. Navigate to the folder where the files are located
4. Type copy 00000.mts /b + 00001.mts /b + 00002.mts /b output.mts
5. Press Enter
6. Wait until it is done. (It takes several minutes to complete.)
If you are not proficient in DOS, download this utility and it will solve the missing frames issue. The utility is called MTS Merger. Once you have downloaded the utility follow the simple steps and it should solve the issues with Spanned Clips.

Hi... On April 3rd I will do my first wedding using HMC150 and I did not notice about the Spanned Clips... On my tests, I did not record more than 10 minutes continuously...
I'm a Mac user, and I edit with FCP 7... And FCP is very annoying when we need to convert MTS file to a format that FCP understands (I tested with Apple Pro Res 422 HQ) ... We need to respect all the card's folder structure and etc...
So, do you have a solution for MAC users (specially FCP users) to solve this problem ?
Thanks in advance _________________ Marcelo Navarro

Hi Marcelo,
I use Edius, so I do not have to convert the AVCHD files to another format to edit.
I would try shooting about 25-30 minutes continously and see if FCP will automatically connect the clips. Did you see the post about FCP that Jordan Berry made in this forum? _________________ All My Best,
